Samenvatting
The estimation of Vehicle Kilometres of Travel (VKT) for all of Canada has in the past been confined to a single number calculated from sales using approximate vehicle fleet fuel consumption averages. More detailed estimates of exposure to risk have come only from driver surveys covering a specific twelve month period. This study investigates various approaches to establishing a continuous sample of road traffic counts to provide improved VKT estimates.
