Samenvatting

Population growth will inevitably bring about an increase in travel activity that will in turn drive up emissions from vehicular use if technology does not change. This paper assesses the combined effect of an increase in VKT and the improvement of vehicle emission performance on the regional emissions of the Greater Metropolitan Region of Sydney. This paper starts with an introduction of the population and VKT data developed by the NSW Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Natural Resources, followed by a discussion of vehicle emission data used in the modelling. The methodology of emission modelling is then discussed in certain detail, leading to the presentation of emission modelling results and a brief demonstration of air-shed modeling results. Finally, uncertainties in association with the emission modeling are discussed in the conclusion. (a) For the covering entry of this conference, please see ITRD abstract no. E213716.
