User acceptability and economic benefits of hard-shell bicycle helmets. Results of a UK survey.

This paper describes a research project with the aim of studying the UK market potential for a hard-shell cycling helmet. The project included the following elementals 1. an evaluation of the risks to which pedal cyclists in the UK are exposed, 2. a study of the incidence of head injury among pedal cyclists, 3. a series of surveys among potential cycling helmet purchasers and users 4. an evaluation of the national economic cost of head injuries.
