Samenvatting

The NOPCOP (NO Plate COmparison Program) range of programs are written in FORTRAN and have been developed to match origin and destination vehicle registration numbers on a cordon basis. This user guide, divided into three parts, explains in detail how to use each of the three NOPCOP programs. Part 1 describes the use of NOPCOP4 which will match up to four characters of the vehicle registration number. This program is designed to measure vehicle journey times and movements in a situation where the cordon is relatively small. The matching is carried out in two stages, the first produces unique, exact matches and the second, which is optional, will match three out of four characters and transpositions. The depth of output can be selected but the full output shows all of the exact matches, the mismatches and the remaining nonmatches in time order. This is followed by the calculated results which show the sample size, average vehicle journey time and delay for each origin/destination movement, separately and for all movements. The results can be displayed for selected time periods and for the whole survey period. The program can accept a maximum of nine entry points and nine exits. Part 2 describes the use of NOPCOP7 which will match up to seven characters, the whole of a UK registration number. This program is very similar in operation to NOPCOP4 but is intended for use on larger cordons, several miles across. NOPCOP7 has been written for use on a cyber computer which consequently limits its general use. Part 3 describes the use of NOPCOPP which is designed for measuring parking duration of vehicles in car parks. It is not suitable for on-street parking. The output shows average vehicle parking duration for selected time periods based both on vehicle arrival and departure times. (A)
