This paper discusses a way of designing a user-oriented Bus Information System (BIS) system that allows bus users to plan a trip itinerary and to query service-related information, such as schedules and routes using interactive communication technologies. Most of the BIS have relied on fixed schedules to provide customers with information about bus routing and schedules. Bus users have had to select proper routes and transfer pointed basedin the information shown on either the kiosk for bus information terminal(BIT). Use of schedule and current operating conditions are complex and can be confusing for many people. Bus service agents can suggest itinerary plans for customers based on printed route maps, published schedules, and service updates not yet made on the printed schedules. This manual itinerary planning process is tedious, time-consuming, redundant, and often error-prone. Computer aided trip planning and information systems were developed to automate and process and provide the user-oriented information through the internet and BIT.
