Samenvatting

From results of research into general `mainstream' cognitive psychology, questions about the nature of changes in cognitive and sensory-motor competence in old age have emerged. The paper discusses how these can be applied to investigate the maintenance of driving competence in a driver's later life. Methodologies and questions are illustrated by reference to a body of data being collected and analysed with support from a DETR contract on the older driver.
