Samenvatting

This paper investigates the relationship between child traffic safety and the built environment, through the application of mapping and statistical techniques. The study uses a comprehensive database of child traffic casualties in the City of Salford, Greater Manchester (UK), which links information from both hospital and police admission sources. Associated factors relating to traffic, physical, socioeconomic and activity variables are included in the analysis. The basic geographical unit of study is the enumeration district and by aggregating these units to form appropriately defines zones, the relative importance of individual factors is identified. (A)
