Samenvatting

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation have developed in-vehicle components for the ETC (electronic toll collection) system in conformance with Japanese ETC specifications. The aim is to develop small, inexpensive and easy-to-install components so that the ETC system will spread all over Japan. The major features of the in-vehicle components for the ETC system are that new electronic devices such as MMICs (monolithic microwave integrated circuit) and protocol ICs controlling DSRC (dedicated short-range communication) protocols have been developed and adopted, and that vacuum fluorescent display units with good visibility are used because the in-vehicle components are installed on vehicles. In addition, the in-vehicle components offer output of voice guidance when a voice unit is connected to the external interface of the in-vehicle components. (A*)
