This paper deals with the lay-out, positioning and grouping of instruments within a vehicle, so that the information displayed by them can be easily assimilated by the driver, and the services they monitor can be instantly recognized as being in a satisfactory condition or at risk. Details of various drivers instruments are given and their importance discussed, especially that of the speedometer.
