Samenvatting
The results are given of a study of the levels of noise emitted by vehicles using the highways of the state of washington; the information is required to form the basis of future vehicle noise control legislation. The study is mainly concerned with trucks travelling at speeds above 35 mph. Measurements were taken of noise level and speed of all the vehicles studied, and of the weights of all trucks above 10,000 lb. Results show variation of noise factor with speed, weight and percentage of maximum load carried.
