Samenvatting

In the next few years the number of vehicles equipped with individual navigation systems is expected to increase. 60 percent of those currently aged between 18 and 40 wish to have access to personal routing in the future (survey by TNS EMNID). Such a high level of installation has an influence on the future development of navigation systems. This article describes the development on a routing system within the framework of the INVENT research initiative aided by the Federal German Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) which is intended to permit individual guidance to destinations in accordance with the objectives of the traffic control and other collective traffic management systems. Part of this research initiative aims to use individual navigation to make a contribution towards new traffic management opportunities in 2010.
