Samenvatting

Since the late 1960's the California Department of Transportation has used wood posts and timber poles with drilled holes near the bases as breakaway supports for dual-support roadside signs. Due to the recent rapid increase in the lightweight car population, crash tests were conducted on these designs to determine whether they met current performance criteria. The design has been adopted as a standard in California.
