Research in ten residential areas or shopping centres, which were reconstructed within the framework of the so-called governmental BREV-subsidy arrangement, is reported. Information about living with traffic, and about traffic and the environment was derived and conclusions are drawn with respect to the relationships between living with traffic and environment and the effects of reconstruction on the subjective experience of traffic safety.
