Samenvatting
A general idea is given of the influence of the use of safety belts on injury severity in different kinds of collision. Main conclusions are that a vehicle occupant without using safety belts can get severe injury. In case of collisions at high speed even the use of safety belts can not prevent severe injuries. Insurance companies have the possibility not to pay if the belts were not used. The development of new kinds of restraint systems can prevent the appeal of own guilt.
