Samenvatting

In order to assess and compare the performances of a number of dynamic traffic models, the DYNDART, CONTRAM and INTEGRATION models were applied to an identical road network in the Netherlands under identical conditions. This report is concerned with the use of the DYNDART 2.0 traffic model. DYNDART was used to calculate three variants for the Arnhem study area and its surroundings. In the basic variant, the traffic situation in 1994 was described. The traffic problems in the form of congestion in this situation were relatively small-scale. Therefore, a reference variant was drawn up in which the origin/destination connections were increased by 5% to 10%. Finally, in the dosing variant, an access dosing system was modelled on two access ramps of the A12 motorway at Duiven and Westervoort. The study shows that the DYNDART 2.0 model is suitable for the correct modelling of an extensive and detailed road network. The iteration process on which DYNDART 2.0 is based, converges in the study area and produces calculations in an acceptable time. The use of access dosing shows a clear shift with respect to the chosen route. In addition, the application of the access dosing systems has a detrimental effect on traffic flow in the whole study area. (A)
