In most of the cases, the tunnel lighting installation must be planned and hence the adaptation luminance at the entrance of such tunnel must be determined when the tunnel is under construction. In order to examine the accuracy of the method described in the CIE under these circumstances the adaptation luminances at the entrance of seven tunnels were measured and calculated.
