In recent years Dutch regional policy has concentrated on the creation of favourable conditions in less prosperous regions. In this respect improvement of the infrastructure received considerable attention. Already quite a few studies have been carried out concerning the economic impacts, of the construction of infrastructure. However (long term) economic impacts due to the use of infrastructure received definitely less attention, apart from the direct benefits like travel time saving. In this paper the problem of measuring the benefits generated by the use of high quality infrastructure for the economy will be dealt with.
