In the national multi- year plan for Traffic Safety a measure is proposed to study the traffic safety aspects of the different access road structure systems for residential areas. First a literature study was made into the relationships, if any, between the layout of such system and traffic safety. There after is studied in how far concrete differences in traffic safety can be declared by the access road structure in two selected cities (Assen en Lelystad).
