Samenvatting
Different principles of flexible traffic light control as applied in Düsseldorf are exposed and the terminology in use is explained. The system consists of 7 networks containing a total of 325 intersections with traffic lights. Characteristics such as variable step length, continuous green light control, free left turning from green waves are described, as well as the situation with the tramways. Some special situations at important intersections are also explained.
