Samenvatting
Periodical technical inspection is mandatory for cars of 10 years old and more since 1985 in the Netherlands. Within three years this inspection has to be extended to all cars of four years old and more. The author thinks however that the effect of these measures will be adverse. The inspection of the car is done only visually, nothing is dismantled. If the owner of the car thinks that his car is safe, then he takes no real precautions. Periodical vehicle inspection will cost a lost of money but its effect on traffic safety will be a limit.
