This paper contains a part of the results of a research into an urbanization approach to the `Great Polder' (located in the western part of the Netherlands). For three urbanization concepts (COMPACT, BAND, and VLEUGEL) location proposals have been developed and judged, directed at an optimal accessibility by public transport. The approach used is characterized by great pragmatism. The approach is intended to make statements on a structure level concerning: (1) the structuring working of public transport; and (2) the choice for a public transport system: bus, tram, and rapid tram.
