Samenvatting
Survey data on shopping behaviour in a number of residential quarters in the so- called RoCa- area (Rotterdam- North- east + Capelle aan den IJssel) are used to get more insight into the travel behaviour of the elderly for shopping purposes. A distinction is made between buying daily necessities and semi- durables respectively. The latter category is still further sub- divided. Attention is successively paid to: the travel mode used, the influence of car availability on this choice, the buying frequency and finally to the reasons why people shop at the level of shopping centre chosen.
