Samenvatting
This paper addresses the bottlenecks encountered in everyday traffic situations and explores the opportunities in VINEX locations (locations of future urban development) for traffic management in general and traffic planning in particular. A number of bottlenecks are identified in an interim project evaluation by means of interviews, workshops and literature studies. The paper introduces a new factor in urban planning which may suggest a possible answer to bottlenecks in traffic management and traffic planning: the urban axes. By way of conclusion a number of these have been included which emphasize the challenges and opportunities offered to traffic planners.
