Visibility and legibility of highway signs.

Samenvatting

Efficiency of highway signs has been analyzed into legibility and attention value. The former is composed of pure legibility and glance legibility, the latter of target value and priority value. A simplified mathematical model for estimating visibility distances is reported. Relative effectiveness of mounting signs over the highway as against on the side of the road, and relative percentages of backgrounds against which highway signs are seen are considered.
