Samenvatting

II Lumination and glare parameters from the combined effects of urban street lighting and vehicle (dipped beam) lighting were investigated. In general there appeared and adverse effect on the revealing power (visibility) of pedestrians throughout the normal range of background iluminance values. In: a stream of vehicles the visibility was even further reduced. Misaiming of lamps was also examined. Different designs of street lamps and the use of multilevel street lighting were tested. In streets with lighting above a certain minimum level the use of town beams is recommended. The Australian vehicle lighting legislation should be adjusted accordingly.
