Visibility problems in night driving : the role of subjective brightness and contrast.

We have to recognize that the average driver knows little or nothing, for example, about the luminations of mesopic vision. We, need, therefore a massive and imaginative programme of education, training, testing and publicity. There is further search to be done, too, but enough is known already to create an informed public opinion.
