Samenvatting

This paper describes the traffic regulation importance and safety in relation to the conspicuity and visibility improvement of vehicles. These include: (1) heavy vehicles characterized by a laden weight above 3.5 tonnes; ( 2) vehicles that are longer than 12 meter; and (3) slow moving vehicles. These cannot by construction exceed the 30 km/h speed. The additional conspicuity marking systems for the three categories are different. The paper stresses the importance of markings for drivers to easily recognize what kind of vehicle is ahead of them. Consequently, they are able to change their driving behaviour in advance. The main theme is based on the "As much information is needed but no more than is necessary" notion.
