Samenvatting

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of preparatory processes, according to various information presentation modalities, in a guidance driving task in a driving simulator, controlled by visual directional messages. These messages were displayed on a screen located in the middle of the dashboard. Correct detection, at the right time, of these messages by the driver is fundamental, knowing that this information has direct consequences on further decisions concerning the route to follow. The various preparatory modalities were visual, well centred in the driver's field of view or off-centre, and auditory, non-specific, such as a beep, or specific such as a verbal message. Effects of ageing on the functional capacities tested were studied.
