Samenvatting

In order to agree with the international rules it is considered that vehicles should give way, at intersections, to vehicles approaching from the right even if these vehicles are so called slow traffic. Up to the present time slow traffic has had no priority in the netherlands. A second motive could be the increasing interest in and importance of slow traffic. It could also be a simplification for those road users. However, over a long period it has been the rule that slow traffic gives way to fast traffic. The consequences of modifications therefore need careful consideration. The mutual behaviour of drivers and moped riders or cyclists at junctions should be estimated if the new rules are to be introduced. A forecast should be given of the traffic safety in comparison with the existing situation. Part one of the report discusses the estimation of traffic behaviour and traffic safety in certain situations. Part two tries to forecast the consequences of the priority for slow traffic on traffic safety.
