Visual perception plays a crucial role in the acquisition of environmental information during traffic participation. Firstly, the possible differences between children and adult bicyclists with regard to the quality of the perceptual strategies are investigated. Secondly, the eye-movement data is tested for the presence of visual strategies during the execution of the traffic task. An overview is given on recent research on eye-movements in various tasks. On basis of this literature a number of hypothesis with respect to the visual strategies of cyclists are formulated.
