Samenvatting

The authors suppose perception and cognition of hazards and hazardous situations being a basic ability to prevent accidents. Therefore, much more must be known about these mental processes occurring while people are at work. In their research, the authors interviewed 138 workers at 36 different workplaces about their awareness of hazards and observed their safe behaviour. As the results show the demands to identify and detect danger qualified enough to percept the relevant information or remember it and to show the adequate safe behaviour. Presuppositions and potentialities of anticipatory behaviour are much more than now to be enlarged by training programs to claim the goal of safe man-machine-systems. (A)
