Injured road users reporting for treatment at Waikato Hospital over 1 year (1979-1980) donated blood samples for intoxicants analysis and answered a detailed questionnaire relating to their accident and to other demographic and socioeconomic factors. This volume details the organisation of the survey, reviews the literature on intoxicants and driving and presents analytical methods and results for alcohol, carbon monoxide, prescription drugs and cannabis in blood samples.
