Samenvatting
A few examples of recent disasters are given. In the Netherlands the "Bescherming Bevolking" (BB) was responsible for the disaster-contest from 1953 to 1986. In 1987 the BB was drawn and the department of home affairs designed a new plan. This plan is described. Several Dutch towns with their specific safety-problems are described. In order to function optimally the organisations which are in charge of the new tasks, should organise exercises. That the BB may be with drawn too early, is concluded.
