Samenvatting

What is the willingness of pay for quality in the car - public transport chain ? : the P&R concept for more reliable chain mobility. P&R facilities may improve the accessibility of cities. However, recently realised P&Rs in the Netherlands are with varying success. Past research reveals limited insight into the preferences of the car driver concerning the transfer from car to public transport. To fully understand the trade-offs of the car drivers between a large number of attributes describing the quality of the whole car - public transport chain, an extensive behaviour model is developed. First of all, on the basis of this model, the willingness to pay for different provisions and services on the P&R facilities is defined. Furthermore, the influence of context variables such as weather or luggage on choice behaviour is determined. Finally, the influence of flanking measures such as parking fee at destination on the choice whether or not to use the P&R facility are measured. The results presented in this paper could be used for formulating and calculating different policy strategies. (Author/publisher)
