Samenvatting

Roads to the Future : a vision on travellers. The 2004 theme of CVS is : ‘Innovation: from inspiration to realisation?’, beautiful plans but what are the results in practice. Rijkswaterstaat has recognized the urgency of innovation programmes that can work under the lee of politics, policy and existing directions of solution. Only than promising solutions for transport problems will have a chance. Roads to the Future is such a programme. Travellers are more and more important for Rijkswaterstaat. She wants to be a customer friendly governmental operational organisation. To work customer friendly, means that the desires of (water)road users for our infrastructure are known. In this context suits the appointment to the innovation programme Roads to the Future: develop a visionary theme on the traveller in the future that will inspire the development of innovative pilots. Those innovations should be aimed at the desires and needs of the traveller in the future and in that way support the ambition of Rijkswaterstaat to develop itself to a customer friendly supplier. Furthermore, the vision should give an insight in the relevant trends, strategic visions, the role of V&W/RWS and other social organisations and the relation with other social domains. In this contribution to CVS the way of working of Roads to the Future is outlined.
