Samenvatting
In principle, a traffic policy directed towards stimulation of public transportation and of bicycle usage, and towards a certain reduction in car traffic intensity, is rather widely accepted in the Netherlands. But in practice, this policy is realized with little enthusiasm, hesitating and erratic. Even an increase of the use of public transportation, and of bicycles, and a stabilization of car traffic intensity, all rather consistent tendencies over the last few years, did not lead to a marked change in attitude with the policy makers.
