Traffic accidents can be reduced by decreasing the travelling speed. In this article guides for wet-weather speed zoning are developed and examples are given to illustrate the application of these principles. The article present curves to determine, for various pavement frictions, the critical speed for hydroplaning, stopping manoeuvres, cornering manoeuvres, passing manoeuvres, emergency path-correction manoeuvres, and combined manoeuvres.
