With no apparent end in sight to the cycle of highway maintenance, rehabilitation, and work zones, or to the headaches for motorists these repairs bring, this article explores the possibility of dramatically altering the ways in which highways are planned, designed, and built by employing more innovative technologies to produce longer-lasting highways in the U.S.
