Samenvatting

The publications of the Quebec Task Force (QTF) on whiplash-associated disorders (WAD) were evaluated for methodological flaws that may have led to faulty conclusions regarding the natural course and epidemiology of whiplash injuries. Five distinct and significant categories of methodologic errors were found, including selection bias, unconventional use of terminology, and inappropriate generalisations from the Quebec cohort study. The authors determined that the conclusions and recommendations of the QTF on WAD with regard to the nature of whiplash injuries are neither reliable nor valid. (A)
