Samenvatting
This white paper reviews trends in traffic accidents and the enforcement of traffic safety in Japan, with regard to the Fifth Fundamental Traffic Safety Program (FY1991 to FY1995). Traffic accident statistics are given for various years up to 1992; they cover traffic accidents and traffic fatalities by age, by road user type, and by seat belt use. Furthermore, frequent traffic accidents involving young people and traffic safety measures are described. The final chapter describes the main priority policies and new policies for 1992.
