Samenvatting

This article outlines new European Union legislation by which penalties for offences committed in a foreign country can be enforced in the home country. Differences between each country's road laws could cause problems for drivers unaware of local laws. Revenue is retained by the police force collecting it. There is no indication of an appeals process, and the author is concerned that overworked police forces will use general debt collection agencies, resulting in possible intimidation.
