NOx emissions are reduced more than 60% on a standard engine in the laboratory merely by exhaust gas recirculation and ignition modifications with little outlay for additional devices. The CO an HC emissions and the fuel consumption are not affected due to any extent. However it will be some time before introduction into production is possible.
