Samenvatting

A survey carried out in several hospitals in Switzerland has shown that 35.2% of all drivers injured in car accidents and taken to hospital were under the influence of alcohol. Attention is drawn to surveys which have shown that, in actual driving as well as with partial simulation, the driver behaviour variables tend to deteriorate even after a single dose of alcohol, or of alcohol and drugs. Questions concerning the methodology of surveys of driver behaviour variables carried out on psychically ill persons under long-term medication are discussed.
