The problems of the use of filtered (yellow) incandescent light or unfiltered (white) light are approached from different angles. In 1971 approximately 15% of the cars in the Netherlands were fitted with yellow headlamps. The filtering of the blue light radiated by the incandescent lamp with the purpose of affecting a yellow light results in a light loss of 15%.
