Samenvatting

The physical planning policy of the dutch government is aimed to bring dwelling and working close together. On the one side working outside the randstad agglomeration is stimulated and working inside is slowed down. On the other side the government has tried to decrease the problems by concentrating house building into so-called growing nuclei. The efficiency of this policy is studied. Some results of a study into the way in which removal and change of place of work between 1975 and 1977 have led to a modification in the dispersion pattern of dwelling and working and through that in the pattern of commuting. The perceived developments raise doubts on the efficiency of the present physical planning policy.
