Samenvatting
The International Standardization Working Group (ISO/TC204/WG3) is reviewing the standardization for storage method of map data which is used for vehicle navigation system by using CD-ROM or comparable media. Japan proposed the map data storage format specifications (popularly called the KIWI format) in relation to this activity. DENSO and some other companies started production of vehicle navigation system which applies KIWI on July 1999. DENSO applied KIWI not only to Japan but to Europe and the United States and confirmed it is usable with no problem. (A*)
