Samenvatting

The organisation of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) represents the victims of drunk driving and demands changes in the way American government and society deal with this crime. Largely because of political pressure from MADD and other groups, over 42 States have formed special task forces on drunk driving, and all States have passed tougher drink driving laws. The connection between the growth in anti-drunk driving citizen activism and the decline in U.S. alcohol related traffic deaths is examined.
