Due to the increasing attention for environmental problems and the expected growth of spare time in the Netherlands, there is an increasing demand for natural areas which are open to the public. Without a change in policy, this will cause more mobility in and around natural parks. There will be negative environmental effects and damage to nature and landscape as a consequence of motorised traffic. A survey is be made on the support of tourists, inhabitants and entrepreneurs for measures to reduce the car use in natural areas. The results show a big support for these measures. There seems to be a relationship between the insensitivity of the measures and the opinion of the different respondents. The measures do not seem to cause a decline of the amount of tourists. In some areas the interest of tourists can even increase. A shift from cars to bicycles and alternative modes of transport appears to be possible.
