On June 20, 2022, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, Mr. Jean Todt, launched the book "The Road Ahead, 26 voices for Safe and Sustainable Mobility”. The book is a collection of essays concerning the vision and views of world leaders on how to ensure success of the Second Decade of Action for Road Safety in particular for low and middle income countries (LMIC's). Each chapter focuses on a different Sustainable Development Goal (e.g., ‘Health’, ‘Gender Equality’ and ‘Quality Education’) in relation to road safety. As one of the two ‘Research and Academia’ representatives in the UN Road Safety Fund Advisory Board, SWOV was invited by the UN Road Safety Fund to contribute to the book. SWOV’s contribution consisted of analytical synopses as introductions to the chapters. Rob Eenink, SWOV's Deputy Director, represented SWOV at the European Development Days (EDD) in Brussels, where the book was launched.
